Networking with Informational Interviews: A Hands-on Workshop
(Students and Early Career Scientists)
Monday June 13th, 6:00 to 8:30 pm (EDT)

Everyone talks about networking, but how do you do it? This workshop introduces Informational Interviews - one powerful tool in the networking toolbox. Using an interactive and hands-on format, the workshop will cover how informational interviews can help you reach your career goals; how to arrange, prepare for, and conduct informational interviews; and how to navigate them and succeed in a virtual space. A special focus is on using informational interviews during career transitions, such as from grad school to the job market, or between sectors (academia, industry, government). The workshop features a presentation, a panel discussion with individuals that have recently navigated career transitions, discussions in small groups to practice your interviewing skills, and an opportunity to build your network on the spot.

AGM Pre-social Networking Event
Thursday June 16th, 6:15 to 7:15 pm (EDT)

Please join us for the pre-social networking event. This event is to encourage presenters to join Gathertown and “stand” by their “presentations” (video links) for potential questions. Door prizes will be available for attendees! During this time there will be an online scavenger hunt! The hunt will be for information about other attendees to practice skills learned during the Networking with Informational Interviews workshop. Non-students will need to speak with students and students will need to speak with a non-student. A draw will also be held for those who participate in the hunt!

AGM virtual social event
